Shannon Bream: Moments Of Crisis, Spending Bills & Aging Politicians

The Fox News Rundown - Podcast készítő FOX News Radio

President Biden and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may be political adversaries, but they’ve spent a great deal of time on the phone in recent days coordinating the disaster response to Hurricane Idalia. For the Biden administration, they are grappling with handling this disaster after receiving mixed public opinion on their response to last month’s deadly wildfire in Hawaii. Meanwhile, in Washington, the age of politicians is under scrutiny again after Senator McConnell appeared to freeze again in a press conference. FOX News Sunday anchor Shannon Bream joins the Rundown to explain how the disaster response efforts will demonstrate leaders’ ability to lead in a crisis, how NY Governor Kathy Hochul is pressing the Biden administration for resources as migrants overwhelm them, and how the McConnell situation has furthered concerns about aging politicians' fitness for office. Federal marijuana restrictions may soon be easing. The Department of Health and Human Services signaled this on Wednesday, issuing a new recommendation to reclassify the drug in the lower-risk category of Schedule III rather than its current status as a Schedule I drug. This move follows the political and social trend of legalization we have seen throughout the country in the past decade, with 23 states legalizing the drug for recreational use. The new recommendation will be reviewed by the DEA, but advocates have long pushed for this classification shift that would bolster the growing cannabis industry. Former FBI supervisory special agent Lance Leising explains what this means from a law enforcement perspective and how it sets the stage for national cannabis decriminalization down the road.
