'In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord , Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord , saying, I beseech thee, O Lord , remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. ' 2 Kings 20:1-3 NOTES: Hezekiah had a good reputation and was known for being a good king of Israel. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord. Much like Hezekiah, not deserving of his pending death, the unborn children facing abortion are not deserving of the death they are facing. Their right to life is more important than the convenience. And when Hezekiah stared the reality of death in the face he said, “NO!” He fought for life. Death was never supposed to the a part of God’s design, it is unnatural to the human experience. Our lives are cut short as a result of sin. (Deuteronomy 30:19) In our culture today there is a prominent love of death ( i.e. - zombie films/shows, blood and gore, a desire to see others suffer). But as Christians we are called to support life. All of us are made in God’s image, including the unborn. And we are all worth something! Life is worth something! The prayer that Hezekiah prayed to God, to extend his life, should be the prayer that we pray for the unborn. God was faithful to answer Hezekiah’s prayer and He can answer our prayers for the unborn and the fight against abortion. Want to receive text updates from our church?
