This week, most of you probably discovered an extra chunk of money in your bank account. The federal government has seen fit to rob future generations by printing an extra $1.9 trillion. The argument about whether there should be a stimulus check is over, now comes the more difficult argument.. what to do with it? I am not prideful enough to think that I can solve all of your financial problems with one sermon, nor do I have the hubris to assume that I can tell you what to do with stimulus. I am, however, confident in the word of God and how the Spirit directs us to treat the money that God has placed in our hands. Frequency of money lessons in the Bible Jesus talked much about money. Sixteen of the thirty-eight parables were concerned with how to handle money and possessions. In the Gospels, an amazing one out of ten verses (288 in all) deals directly with the subject of money. Why so prevalent? Why don’t we hear that same percentage of sermons dealing with money and possessions? -- We need five-star reviews!
