Syran Warner is a journalist and editor from Minneapolis who specializes in stories about cults and coercive control. Best known for breaking a story about a cult that originated in Alaska called The Body, Warner tries his best to be a Swiss army knife of a reporter in several formats. His original reporting has been featured in publications such as Newsweek and he is the editor of The Body International, an online magazine covering cult stories from all across the spectrum of undue influence. In this fascinating conversation on cult journalism, Syran shares with Rachel some of the personal insights he's gained from his work and explains how he initially got pulled into the cult reporting world which he now occupies full-time.
