Football star Paddy McCourt was declared ‘an innocent man’ after a nightmare 22 months involving a conviction for sexual assault concluded when Northern Ireland’s Prosecution Service told an appeals court he had no case to answer.McCourt, a Glasgow Celtic and former League of Ireland star, had been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Derry bar two years ago by putting his hand up her skirt.Now his legal team at Madden and Finucane solicitors want answers from the PSNI about what they claim was shabby treatment by an investigation team they say singled him out due to who he is.Nicola speaks to Niall Donald about the case and the extraordinary sequence of events that led to the clearing of McCourt's name and reputation.
