She is particularly interested in young people's mental health and in the challenges of coming of age in a world that's much changed from the one in which today's parents grew up. Before joining The Atlantic, Julian was the deputy editor of The Washington Post’s Sunday Outlook section and the managing editor of The New Yorker.
