2nd (Palamas) Sunday Vespers

The Order of the 9th Hour for 24 Feb followed by Great Vespers for the 2nd Sunday of the Great Fast, a Sunday of Tone 6, commemorating St Gregory Palamas and the "Triumph of Spiritual Orthodoxy". Some Greek Catholics have rejected this commemoration due to his later status and some anti-papal sentiments in his writing, but this is erroneous since the 2nd Sunday follows the 1st Sunday. The Triumph of Inner Orthodoxy of Hesychasm and Byzantine Spirituality follows the Triumph of External Orthodoxy of Liturgy and Iconography (i.e. Byzantine Artistic Expression). St Gregory's personal views of church politics reflected his time and would likely be very different if he were around today, but his contribution to our Spiritual and Philosophical Tradition is timeless and the same today and everyday.As a reminder, there are now ways to support me in creating this podcast.
