Beth Holbrook of the Brainerd Area Fisheries Office and Bethany Bethke out of Duluth, are heading up a very important DNR study on perch. The numbers are down and so are the sizes. They're taking a deep dive to find out why. Perch are a hugely popular game fish (particularly during ice season) but perhaps even more importantly, they're a huge part of the forage base for most of the other fish we love to catch.
