Dear Navya ...a love story In 2012, Garry and  I sponsored a young Indian girl named Navya for about three years through a local Queensland church. We kept it going even after we moved to the other side of the country and went to live in the Pilbara, an area in the north of Western Australia. The pastor in the Queensland church was going on a mission trip to India to meet the pastor there who was raising about a dozen orphans and displaced children. He said that if we wanted to, we could send something for our sponsored child as long as it wasn’t bulky. God put it on my heart to write her a letter and then to illustrate the letter, so that’s how it became a book. God is so amazing because on top of that, He provided another blessing. At the church we were attending in Karratha (in the Pilbara area), we met an Indian family and I shared with them the story and illustrations. We found out that the Indian dialect Navya spoke was the same as the family we met in the church! I asked the Indian man if he would translate what I’d written into his language (Telagu) and write it in my book for Navya, which he did. Below is the book in its original English.
