During this episode, we will recount an experiment that proves mycelium is intelligent. But how is it that we ever disassociated intelligence from nature? To answer my own query, I can observe that science is a purely materialistic way of thinking, which side-steps ideas of spirit, by design. But if we get back to older ways to consider the natural world using a spiritual lens, we will soon ask “what other parts of nature are intelligent”? For that matter, we might ask “do the older elemental ways of thinking offer renewed comprehension in such matters”? Is fire or water or air intelligent? It may be that another question will help comprehension in this matter. Who or what animated all that we can observe, and how is it perpetual in its spirited motions? Last question…if we know there are mineral, plant, and animal kingdoms, should one more be added to include mycelium? It seems to include aspects of both the plant and animal kingdom, and yet refuses to fit neatly within either category. Maybe the categories are the problem, as it is clear that mushrooms exist. It is clear that they are intelligent and serve as the networking element in natural systems which could not exist otherwise. While the kingdom of fungi is mostly unheralded, it should not be. It deserves recognition between plant and animal when describing natural kingdoms. After all, everything in this world is connected, including you and me.
